Did You Know?
Alcohol is...
A disinfectant, a toxin, and solvent - meaning it affects every cell in your body.
A mutagen - meaning it can change the DNA within cells, increasing risks of cancer (especially breast cancer).
A depressant, affecting the neurotransmitters in the brain and causing anxiety as it leaves our body - EVEN AFTER ONE DRINK.
An addictive substance - meaning the more you drink, the longer you drink, the greater the risk for dependence.
Women and Alcohol...
Women do not metabolize alcohol as effectively as men - the toxin stays in our bodies longer, causing more damage.
Alcohol is actually one of the worst, most aggressive compounds to destroy our skin.
Women, compared to men, have had larger increases in alcohol-related emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and deaths in the past 20 years.
Alcohol slows our metabolism of nutrients as it focuses on ridding the body of the toxin - causing weight gain.
